Ideal Financial Planning

My name is Josh Morris, and I began my career in Dallas as a CPA at Ernst & Young, one of the Big4 accounting firms, where I primarily served high net worth individuals and their closely help businesses. It was a great learning environment, but I knew that I never wanted to become a tax partner and wanted to move into the personal financial planning and wealth management space. Throughout my career, I've seen every level of the wealth management spectrum. I've been an advisor at multi-family and single family office, serving the wealthiest clients with net worths exceeding $1 billion and a small boutique RIA serving approximately 60 clients, who varied from those just starting out to business owners, professionals, and physicians that valued the advice that we could provide when financial decisions arose. Finally, I joined a fintech startup wanting to democratize financial planning, and I saw the challenges that can come with growth at scale without adequately setting up the operations to effective serve them in a way that they want. All of this experience and my desire to help meet clients where they are and serve them how they prefer to work with an advisor led me to create Ideal Financial Planning. Rather than trying to please the board, increase business valuations, or standardize planning to eek out more efficiency, I want to provide bespoke planning recommendation based on each client's situation to help them reach their ideal life, while not limiting services to a single wealth management offering based on how much money you have. I believe that clients do not have to be clients for life; if I can help someone get on the right track and they feel confident to manage it themselves afterward, that is great and a project or hourly approach might be more appropriate. For others, they may feel comfortable managing their investments for now and would rather like planning advice and an ongoing relationship when those financial decisions emerge, with pricing based on complexity. Finally, I offer holistic wealth management (planning plus investment management), with separate fees for each service to accurately reflect the value and complexity for those services. I grew up in Mustang, OK and attended Oklahoma Christian University majoring in accounting before starting my career in Dallas. I am married to my high school sweetheart, and we have two elementary age children and a 2-year old rescue dog. We moved back to Mustang, OK in 2022 and love it here!
