David Nethery is a Wealth Management Advisor based in Merrill Lynch's downtown Dallas office. He holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® (CFP®) designation, as well as credentials including Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA), Personal Investment Advisor (PIA), and Sports & Entertainment Accredited Wealth Management Advisor (SE-AWMA). David joined Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in 1991 and serves a diverse group of affluent clients throughout the United States.
David earned his Bachelor of Science in Business from Oklahoma State University, majoring in Accounting with concentrations in economics, finance, and computer science. Prior to his career in wealth management, he spent ten years as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) working in the Management Consulting divisions of Arthur Andersen & Co. (now Accenture) and Ernst & Young. His approach to portfolio advising is traditional and non-discretionary, focusing on identifying, evaluating, and selecting individual stocks, ETFs, mutual funds, and bonds tailored to each client’s risk profile and objectives. This method provides clients with increased involvement, investment flexibility, and frequent communication.
In addition to his professional duties, David volunteers by tutoring students from elementary through high school in underprivileged neighborhoods. He has chaired multiple golf tournaments aimed at raising funds to support college education for underprivileged children and has served on the board of Trinity River Mission, an organization dedicated to educating underprivileged youth in Dallas. In 2023, he was recognized as a member of the Nethery, Johnson & Associates team on the Forbes "Best-in-State Wealth Management Teams" list. David does not provide tax or legal advice in his current role with Merrill Lynch.
