Michael Carter is a Senior Financial Advisor and Senior Vice President with Merrill Lynch Wealth Management. He opened the Roseville, California office of Merrill Lynch as the Resident Director in 1993 and has been associated with Merrill Lynch since 1975. Michael holds the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor™ (CRPC™) designation from the College for Financial Planning Institutes Corp. and the Personal Investment Advisor (PIA) credential.
Michael earned a Master’s Degree in Business Finance and a Bachelor’s Degree in History from the California State University system. Prior to his career in financial services, he served in the Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Captain. His advisory focus includes college education planning, family wealth management strategies, managing new wealth, personal retirement planning, and retirement income. Michael has also contributed to the community through roles such as serving on the Finance Committee of the Boy Scouts of America, Golden Empire Council, and as a founding charter member of the Stand Up 4 Financial Literacy campaign in the greater Sacramento area.
Outside of his professional work, Michael resides in Granite Bay, California with his wife Marie. They are parents of two sons who graduated from the Folsom School District while Marie served on the Folsom Board of Education. His personal interests include adventure sports, gardening, running, skiing, and traveling.
