About

Cathedral Square Capital provides investment management, comprehensive financial planning, and retirement plan consulting to individuals, high‑net‑worth clients, and plan sponsors. The firm works with clients through written investment management agreements, financial planning agreements, and Investment Policy Statements to tailor services to individual goals and constraints.

Its investment approach is goals‑based, emphasizing fundamental analysis and portfolio construction via mean‑variance optimization (a Markowitz/Modern Portfolio Theory framework) to set asset allocation and build diversified portfolios using stocks, bonds, ETFs, closed‑end funds, and mutual funds. The firm employs both active and passive strategies — with a stated preference for passive vehicles where appropriate — and manages accounts on discretionary and non‑discretionary bases depending on the engagement; financial planning services are provided non‑discretionarily.

Noteworthy aspects include a recent rebranding (now doing business as Cathedral Square Capital) and regulatory disclosures that the firm uses third‑party endorsements in its advertising, a practice that is uncommon among peers. The firm also highlights retirement plan work that can include 3(21) advice or full 3(38) discretionary fiduciary authority (using Betterment as a third‑party administrator), offers household billing for multigenerational families, and explicitly excludes direct management of cryptocurrencies and certain non‑traditional insurance products.

I’m a native Oklahoman and I’ve spent the last decade working in wealth management firms before launching 1522 Financial in 2022. Previously, I was Chief Investment Officer at an independent Trust Company in Oklahoma. 1522 Financial is a modern wealth management firm that focuses on delivering innovative financial plans without unnecessary complexity. I believe planning should be like most things in life – flexible, and we do not require clients to have me manage their assets in order to work with us. Whether we’re diving into complex financial planning or helping to create investment portfolios to meet clients’ goals – we are a fiduciary. I’m a proud graduate of Oklahoma State University for both my Masters and Bachelors degrees. I also completed the Executive Program in Financial Planning from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business. In addition, I hold the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and Chartered Financial Analyst designations. I’ve spent most of the last decade building on my knowledge of financial planning, financial markets, and investing in an effort to be the best possible resource for my clients. When I’m not helping clients, you can find me spending time with my family and friends, playing golf, and playing guitar. I’m also an avid reader and am always up for a good book recommendation.
