About

Empower Advisory Group (EAG) provides financial planning and investment management primarily to employer‑sponsored retirement plan sponsors and their participants, as well as to Empower Premier IRA and certain retail brokerage account holders. The firm’s services are delivered through an integrated model tied to Empower’s recordkeeping and administrative platforms and include both point‑in‑time financial plans and optional managed account solutions.

EAG’s financial planning Service produces a single “point‑in‑time” plan using proprietary and third‑party methodologies that emphasize long‑term portfolio returns, annual rebalancing, and clients’ savings rates rather than short‑term return forecasts. The standalone planning Service does not implement or monitor recommendations automatically and will not update plans unless a client re‑engages, although participants may separately enroll in managed accounts that give EAG discretionary authority.

Distinctive features include the firm’s scale and tight integration with affiliated Empower entities for recordkeeping, brokerage execution and investment products, which means recommendations are generally made within plan lineups chosen by plan sponsors and can result in affiliate compensation when proprietary funds or insurance products are used. EAG also serves a very large participant base relative to its adviser headcount—yielding a higher client‑to‑advisor workload than many peers—and disclosed a material SEC settlement in August 2025 concerning disclosure and conflicts of interest (censure, cease‑and‑desist order, $750,000 civil penalty and $4,063,569.80 disgorgement).
