About

Essa Financial LLC provides personalized, fee-only financial planning and investment management to individuals, trusts, estates, and small businesses, delivering advice on cash flow, retirement, tax planning, education funding, and general estate planning. The firm does not sell investment products or accept commissions and offers both an ongoing retainer relationship and limited-scope, fixed-fee project engagements.

The firm does not operate on a percentage-of-assets-under-management model and does not use performance-based fees; instead it relies on a retainer framework and occasional project agreements. Investment implementation emphasizes asset allocation, passively managed index funds and ETFs, and a long-term buy-and-hold approach, with portfolios reviewed typically once or twice a year rather than continuously monitored; clients maintain custody of their assets, though limited trading authority may be arranged.

Compared with peers, the firm’s fee model and formal adherence to a fee-only code of ethics (NAPFA membership) are distinctive features for a small advisory practice. The firm is intentionally small and structured, with the principal also engaged in academic teaching and nonprofit board service, which the brochure identifies as part of the firm’s background and may influence the depth and focus of its planning resources.

Elijah E

CFP®

Louisville, KY

Essa Financial LLC

Elijah has been a fee-only financial planner for over eight years. In 2025, he started Essa Financial to provide transparent and client-centric financial advice to folks in the Louisville community and beyond. As a teacher, Elijah’s favorite part about being a financial planner is communicating complex planning topics to clients in ways that are more easily understood. He enjoys the education aspect of being a planner, especially in a one-on-one environment. He values deep relationships with clients, and is always willing to listen and learn. He also believes exceptional client service (and swift communication) is the cornerstone of financial planning. Elijah is actively involved in the profession. He is an active volunteer with the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), having previously served on their Genesis board for young advisors for five years and currently serving on the South Region board as the Membership Chair. He also reviews scholarship applications for the CFP Board Center for Financial Planning, which provides assistance to qualified candidates for the CFP® exam. In addition to his role as a planner, Elijah teaches part-time as an adjunct professor at the University of Louisville. Elijah resides in Louisville with his wife, Sarah, and dogs, Landon and Korra. Aside from financial planning and teaching, Elijah spends his time frequenting local coffee shops, running (short distances) around his neighborhood, playing video games, watching the Minnesota Timberwolves, and of course, spending time with friends and family.

Find your advisor

For advisor listings, we rely on sources including public filings and data provided by advisors, and we cannot guarantee that all information is current or accurate. Advisors are independent and may not have reviewed or updated this information. Please review an advisor’s Form ADV and do your own diligence before deciding whether to work with them.

Advisor matching and introductions are provided by FinanceHQ LLC (“FHQ”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Warmer and an SEC-registered investment advisor. We receive compensation from certain participating advisors for introductions or referrals. This creates a conflict of interest because we have an incentive to recommend advisors who compensate us, including those who pay us more. You pay no fee to use our matching service, and advisor fees are not increased because of a referral or introduction. We do not review the ongoing performance of advisors, manage or hold assets, guarantee performance, or provide advice about specific investments.

By using our service, you agree to our Terms of Service and Advisory Agreement, and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. Please review FHQ’s ADV Part 2A and Form CRS. Logos provided by Logo.dev
