About

First Citizens Asset Management, Inc. provides model-based sub‑advisory services to an affiliated broker‑dealer and direct investment advisory services to individuals, trusts, estates, charitable organizations and corporations, and also offers discretionary and non‑discretionary investment management to state and local municipalities and other institutions. Its product set includes model portfolios, separately managed and unified managed account options, and a wrap program, although FCAM is not accepting new retail clients for its Retail Services.

FCAM constructs global multi‑asset class model portfolios across three implementation frameworks (funds, ETFs, and income‑oriented), combining fundamental, quantitative and technical analysis and the use of third‑party managers where appropriate; models are monitored continuously with formal Board reviews at least quarterly. Investment management is generally discretionary, emphasizing strategic asset allocation, manager research and periodic rebalancing to control portfolio‑level risk exposure.

The firm is a wholly owned, non‑bank subsidiary of First‑Citizens Bank and is operationally affiliated with First Citizens Investor Services, so certain investment adviser representatives also act as registered representatives of the affiliated broker‑dealer and are licensed to offer insurance products, creating integrated brokerage and insurance relationships that can affect product recommendations. FCAM provides negotiated fee arrangements for municipal and institutional clients, relies principally on asset‑based fees rather than fixed fees, and has implemented post‑settlement changes (including crediting 12b‑1 fees to advisory accounts) following an SEC enforcement matter related to share‑class selection.
