About
Mesirow Financial Investment Management, Inc.’s Wealth Management division provides discretionary and non‑discretionary investment management and financial planning and also acts as investment manager to affiliated feeder funds that invest substantially all of their assets in affiliated institutional real estate and private equity master funds. Clients include private individuals, pension and profit‑sharing plans, state and municipal government entities, charitable organizations and other institutional clients, with access to both third‑party managers and proprietary private investment products.
In constructing portfolios MFIM typically prepares an Investment Policy Statement, sets asset allocation targets and applies quantitative and qualitative due diligence across mutual funds, equities, fixed income, ETFs and alternative investments, and it may engage third‑party sub‑advisors to implement specialized strategies. The firm also internally manages a Quality Dividend Strategy and offers qualified clients access to proprietary feeder funds and other private investments managed by affiliated Mesirow entities.
The brochure discloses that MFIM is part of a broader financial services group, including an affiliated broker‑dealer (MFI) and a clearing relationship with National Financial Services, and identifies affiliations that extend to municipal advisory, real‑estate brokerage, pension consulting and commodity trading/commodity pool operations. The firm’s use of proprietary products and feeder structures, its disclosed marketing practices (including endorsements, third‑party ratings and hypothetical performance), and a prior SEC settlement in July 2022 regarding disclosure of revenue sharing are notable features that create additional conflict‑of‑interest and oversight considerations for prospective clients.
