About
Orbis Wealth Management provides investment advisory and financial planning services to individuals (including high-net-worth clients), as well as trusts, estates, charitable organizations and business entities. Offerings include discretionary and non-discretionary asset management, comprehensive financial planning and consulting, ERISA 3(21) retirement-plan advisory services, and variable annuity management.
Portfolios are constructed from mutual funds, exchange-traded funds, individual stocks and bonds and cash, using methods such as fundamental and technical analysis, Modern Portfolio Theory and Monte Carlo planning to align allocation with client goals and risk tolerance. The firm charges percentage-of-assets advisory fees billed quarterly, generally requires a $500,000 account minimum and manages roughly $70 million in client assets.
A distinctive feature disclosed in the brochure is that the firm’s principal also operates as an independent insurance agent and receives commissions on insurance products (approximately five percent of his time is devoted to insurance activities), a source of external compensation the firm identifies and says it mitigates through disclosure and fiduciary duties. The firm also offers an American Funds-only program for some clients, provides ERISA 3(21) plan services, and does not routinely vote client proxies, leaving proxy voting to clients unless assistance is requested.
