About

Outpost Advisors serves individual clients — including those seeking ongoing comprehensive financial planning and discretionary portfolio management — and also provides advisory services to employer-sponsored retirement plans. The firm offers tiered financial planning packages (from stand‑alone plans to ongoing planning plus investment management), project-based hourly planning, and employee benefit plan services for plan sponsors.

The firm’s investment approach centers on passive, asset-allocation-based management supplemented by fundamental analysis and the use of third‑party managers and model portfolios (including subscriptions through a model marketplace). Advisors construct client-specific investment policy statements, exercise discretionary trading authority for managed accounts, and review plans and portfolios on at least an annual basis as part of an integrated planning-and-investment relationship.

Distinctive features include a regular schedule of educational seminars and paid speaking engagements, a proprietary “Purpose Process” used in its planning packages, and a professional‑coordination service that can onboard and bill outside specialists on a client’s behalf. The firm also discloses operational practices that are less common for peers of its size — such as specific use of AI and technology tools for research, tax‑return analysis, and meeting transcription (with human review) — and it requires clients to custody assets with selected custodians.

Outpost Advisors, LLC

As a Principal and Financial Planner at Outpost Advisors, Mark spends his time creating unique financial plans that power our clients’ family visions and dreams for life. Mark is raising three girls with his wife Amelia, who practices medicine as an Obstetrician and Gynecologist. After graduating from Princeton University, Mark began his career at the International Monetary Fund teaching central bankers how to budget (whilst managing interest rates, monetary policy and political instability). In his free time he taught classes in financial literacy to DC-area families dealing with poverty. From there, he moved on to mortgage finance giant Freddie Mac, where he helped to execute the largest preferred equity capital raise in US history. Next, he spent a year at Jones Lang Lasalle managing a $750M asset portfolio for the Army, before relocating to Utah where he helped to build the outdoor retailer Backcountry.  Before leaving to found Outpost Advisors Mark spent 5 years as a leader at ExpertVoice, a technology startup funded by Bain Capital and Sorenson Capital. Mark has had the great joy of leading individuals and families in budgeting, family visioneering and financial stewardship for more than a decade. Mark can also often be found podcasting and writing for the 501c3 he founded in 2018, Abraham’s Wallet. Mark holds an MBA from The George Washington University with a focus on finance. When he’s not playing with spreadsheets, Mark enjoys golf (playing and coaching his kids' school program), skiing, trail running, hunting, climbing or riding bikes with his family.

Find your advisor

For advisor listings, we rely on sources including public filings and data provided by advisors, and we cannot guarantee that all information is current or accurate. Advisors are independent and may not have reviewed or updated this information. Please review an advisor’s Form ADV and do your own diligence before deciding whether to work with them.

Advisor matching and introductions are provided by FinanceHQ LLC (“FHQ”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Warmer and an SEC-registered investment advisor. We receive compensation from certain participating advisors for introductions or referrals. This creates a conflict of interest because we have an incentive to recommend advisors who compensate us, including those who pay us more. You pay no fee to use our matching service, and advisor fees are not increased because of a referral or introduction. We do not review the ongoing performance of advisors, manage or hold assets, guarantee performance, or provide advice about specific investments.

By using our service, you agree to our Terms of Service and Advisory Agreement, and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. Please review FHQ’s ADV Part 2A and Form CRS. Logos provided by Logo.dev
