About

Wonderland Financial Planning serves individual and high-net-worth clients with comprehensive financial planning (initial, project-based, and ongoing) and discretionary investment management. The firm operates as a fee-only adviser and charges for planning engagements separately from its asset-based investment management services.

The firm follows a planning-first model: investment management is only available to clients who have completed an initial comprehensive plan or who engage in ongoing financial planning. Portfolios are constructed around asset allocation principles, using passive vehicles such as index mutual funds and ETFs, and may be managed on a discretionary basis consistent with each client’s objectives and risk tolerance.

Founded in 2025 as a small solo practice with a limited client roster, Wonderland discloses several operational features that distinguish it from many peers: it requires clients to establish accounts on a single recommended custodial platform (Altruist), does not aggregate or block trades across client accounts, and has no stated account minimum. The firm also provides outside consulting to FinTech companies (about 10–15 hours per month), a practice it identifies as a potential time-related conflict that it mitigates through project-based scheduling.

Wonderland Financial Planning

Most people come to me with a spreadsheet and a question they feel a little silly asking out loud. Is this enough? Could I stop? Would it be crazy to take a year off? They usually apologize for not having a better question. But it's the only question that matters. Here's what I've noticed doing this work for over a decade. People climb the ladder and chase "the number", and then they get there and find out those weren't the goals that mattered. Nobody wants to retire to nothing. They want to retire to freedom. They want to spend time traveling with their family. They want to go back to school to learn a new skill. They want to get off their computer for a living. Equity compensation has presented a whole population of tech workers with the gift of optionality. But it's not just about how to liquidate shares efficiently for tax purposes. It's about what the shares would let you do, and whether you have permission to go do it. So that's where we start. What to do with the RSUs, when to sell, and what that costs you, whether the new house math actually holds, the stuff that keeps a plan standing up. And once the base is there, we start to dream of all the things we want money to represent and support in our lives. I can't promise certainty, or all the answers, but I can promise to be there with you to guide you through it. Wonderland is a fee-only firm and I don't need to manage accounts for us to work together. Everyone starts with an initial plan to understand where you are today and to take action on the biggest moving parts in your financial life. From there, we can decide how to work together on an ongoing basis.
