About

South Bay Financial Partners was founded by Tara Unverzagt in 2014. Tara’s interest in financial planning was sparked at a young age as she watched her mother become a financial planner in the 1960s, a time before the development of the financial planning career.

Now, with over 30 years of experience in financial planning, investment advice, and tax preparation, Tara is more dedicated than ever to walking with clients through their life's journey, navigating financial decisions at various stages along the way. Her clients range from young adults just embarking on their careers to business owners to couples going through post-retirement transitions to multi-generations of families.

Much like her mother, Tara is a visionary within her industry, fueled by her active involvement in the Financial Therapy Association (FTA). The FTA places a strong emphasis on recognizing, addressing, and working through the emotional factors that intertwine with money, like fear, shame, and anxiety, which frequently impede individuals from making optimal financial choices. In 2019, Tara received her CFT-I in Financial Therapy and now utilizes those skills in every client interaction.

Since founding South Bay Financial Partners, Tara has grown her team to now have three other planners who bring their own areas of expertise and extensive experience to the table. This collective knowledge ensures that clients receive a well-rounded approach to their financial planning needs.

Tara and her team firmly believe that your finances should support your life, and not the other way around. You deserve to have a life plan that is unique to you and your dreams. A plan that helps you live by your values without shame, fear, or anxiety. Your budget should tell your story.

“We believe it’s your day-to-day decisions that make the difference in achieving financial success.” – South Bay Financial Partners team

Overall, South Bay Financial Partners offers a comprehensive range of financial planning tools and services for anyone with any budget, with a focus on supporting clients in their day-to-day decisions, aligning their finances with their life goals, and addressing the emotional aspects of money decisions to create a fulfilling financial journey. Tara and her team provide investment advice and management, tax preparation and planning, cash flow (aka budgeting), estate planning support, charitable giving, generational wealth transfer, career development, insurance/company benefits review, and student loan and debt management, with financial therapy tools woven in everything they do.

Modern Assets, LLC

I'm Marie Thomasson, CFP®, and I built Mothered to offer financial planning for women so that money supports your human experience instead of dictating it. My clients carry a lot of labels: wife, divorcee, widow, mother, daughter, or single. At Mothered, you’re more than any of them. Whether you’re planning for the next three generations or “just” yourself, we support your needs and desires fully, without judgment, and with the care you deserve. You’ve carried the weight financially and emotionally, whether you’re in the midst of figuring out the moving parts or in a place to stop and get organized. Let Mothered share the load by caring for your finances like a mother would. Mothered keeps a small client load to give each person depth of care and attention. My job is to collaborate with you to build a framework that nurtures your financial empowerment so that your will outshines the pull of fear. My clients often bring me problems that aren’t financial, and I organize a financial gameplan to dispel the fear at the root of the issue. Mothered’s services transmute your emotional responses to money so you can use it as the tool for the life you want: a life of art and culture, hotels with robes, travel, and care for your loved ones and community. Money gets to be a resource for connection and expression as well as freedom from want and security from fear. Wild, worldly matriarchs and childless cat ladies, please apply.

Guardian Life

Fred Kettler is a mindful, holistic financial coach and independent financial professional serving Miami, Florida and Southern California, with nearly four decades of experience helping individuals, families, and business owners gain greater clarity, confidence, and peace of mind around their financial lives. Since beginning his career in 1987, Fred has focused on helping clients think beyond products, market returns, or isolated financial decisions. His planning approach is built around four key areas: cash-flow awareness, income and family protection, broadly diversified long-term investing, and retirement income planning. Fred’s work is centered on helping clients better understand where they are today, where they want to go, and how to build a more thoughtful roadmap for the future. His process emphasizes education, stewardship, long-term discipline, and creating dependable income strategies designed to support clients through every stage of life, especially as they approach or move through retirement. Rather than focusing solely on assets under management, Fred helps clients explore the bigger picture: how their savings, investments, insurance, income sources, and retirement goals can work together more effectively. His goal is to help people make more confident decisions, protect what matters most, and move forward with greater financial peace of mind. Fred Kettler is associated with Kettler Financial and has served clients for many years through a personal, relationship-driven planning process. His work is especially suited for individuals and families seeking a thoughtful financial chat, a clearer retirement income strategy, and a more holistic approach to long-term financial wellbeing.

For advisor listings, we rely on sources including public filings and data provided by advisors, and we cannot guarantee that all information is current or accurate. Advisors are independent and may not have reviewed or updated this information. Please review an advisor’s Form ADV and do your own diligence before deciding whether to work with them.

Advisor matching and introductions are provided by FinanceHQ LLC (“FHQ”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Warmer and an SEC-registered investment advisor. We receive compensation from certain participating advisors for introductions or referrals. This creates a conflict of interest because we have an incentive to recommend advisors who compensate us, including those who pay us more. You pay no fee to use our matching service, and advisor fees are not increased because of a referral or introduction. We do not review the ongoing performance of advisors, manage or hold assets, guarantee performance, or provide advice about specific investments.
