About

FactorPoint Planning provides financial planning, consulting and discretionary wealth management services and reports $287,933,766 in assets managed on a discretionary basis. The firm documents engagements through written advisory agreements and can advise on both managed accounts and held-away products such as variable life/annuity contracts and qualified tuition plans.

The firm’s investment process starts with a structured, holistic planning sequence — deep-dive discovery, a personalized financial plan, then an evidence-based investment strategy — and emphasizes low-cost, tax-efficient, broadly diversified portfolios built primarily with systematic, rules-based ETFs and factor tilts. Implementation commonly uses independent managers and a TAMP platform, and the firm performs ongoing portfolio oversight, rebalancing, tax-loss harvesting, and behavioral coaching.

Compared with many peers, FactorPoint operates with a small advisory team (two advisors) overseeing a relatively large amount of discretionary AUM and a client mix focused more on trusts, estates, corporations and retirement plan-type relationships than on typical retail individual or high‑net‑worth households. Its relationship with Focus Partners Advisor Solutions for TAMP services includes a minimum three‑year commitment with a cancellation fee and potential fee credits back to the firm, an arrangement the brochure identifies as creating a financial incentive to continue using that provider.

Kurt K

Series 66

Pittsford, NY

FactorPoint Planning, LLC

For Kurt, planning and investing are means to an end—after all, what’s the point of accumulating wealth for accumulation’s sake? His goal is for clients to fully enjoy their wealth both today and in the future. As such, he focuses first on helping clients map out their life, creating a detailed picture of their hopes, dreams, and wishes. Only after that big-picture plan is established does he dive into the details and identify prescriptive action steps. Then, and only then, does he discuss the best way to invest their money. This intentional order aims to ensure each strategy has a specific purpose, and that every decision the client makes is driving them closer to their long-term goals. Kurt enjoys working with young entrepreneurs and specialized professionals who are early in their careers. Many of his clients have never had a personalized financial plan, and they appreciate his fresh perspective. He challenges conventional wisdom, always seeking the “why” behind a strategy rather than simply accepting the status quo. In doing so, he often discovers additional avenues for growth, methods for clients to more efficiently achieve their goals, or ways to save on taxes. Kurt lives in Rochester, New York, with his wife Sarah and their two young children, Kai and Isla. They’re an active family that loves to be outside as much as possible, and when each of his kids turned three, Kurt taught them to ski—something he was very excited about, having started skiing himself at the age of two. They also enjoy cooking together, going on road trips, and watching movies.

Find your advisor

For advisor listings, we rely on sources including public filings and data provided by advisors, and we cannot guarantee that all information is current or accurate. Advisors are independent and may not have reviewed or updated this information. Please review an advisor’s Form ADV and do your own diligence before deciding whether to work with them.

Advisor matching and introductions are provided by FinanceHQ LLC (“FHQ”), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Warmer and an SEC-registered investment advisor. We receive compensation from certain participating advisors for introductions or referrals. This creates a conflict of interest because we have an incentive to recommend advisors who compensate us, including those who pay us more. You pay no fee to use our matching service, and advisor fees are not increased because of a referral or introduction. We do not review the ongoing performance of advisors, manage or hold assets, guarantee performance, or provide advice about specific investments.

By using our service, you agree to our Terms of Service and Advisory Agreement, and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. Please review FHQ’s ADV Part 2A and Form CRS. Logos provided by Logo.dev
